The Journalist

I got into writing in the year 2000.
Here are a couple of mags I worked for in the last years:

Germany's leading guitar magazine, now featuring interviews, stories, gear tests and workshops written by ,yours truly'

www.gitarrebass.de

An educational magazine, which deals with the teaching side of music. I review books and DVDs for them and write articles about teaching guitar and band coaching

One of Germany's most important guitar mags. I did a monthly column called "Rockstyle History" from 2007 to 2011, a lot of gear checks and the series “Masterpieces” and “Riffalong”. Hey, once I even interviewed Yngwie Malmsteen!

Guitar’s little sister deals with –as you might have guessed – acoustic guitars. In 2010 I put together the CD that comes along with the mag, transcribed and recorded songs and edited all the sheet music and tablature published in the magazine. Afterwards I concentrated on the column “Akkorde”, which explains all kinds of chords you can play on guitar.

One of Germany’s leading musician’s magazines, dealing with all things about being in a band. Besides doing a lot of gear checks, I did the workshop Series “Effekte” and interviewed people like Steve Lukather, John 5, Eric Sardinas, Al Jourgensen and The International Noise Conspiracy. I also wrote the monthly columns “Survival Guide für Musiker” and "Social Media"

If you wanna know about Rockabilly, Psychobilly, Surf and Ska in Germany, you gotta read Dynamite! I talked to Reverend Horton Heat, The Sadies, Messer Chups and a lot more cool bands, review CDs and had a column presenting the most legendary instruments in Rock’n’Roll.

In 2006 I wrote an encyclopedia of surf music called "SURF BEAT: Das Who\'s Who der Surf- und Instromusik". It covers bands from the 60s till today, equipment, labels, fanzines and all kind of other stuff that goes along with my favourite kind of music. Check it out here:

Banzai was Germany’s finest surf/rockabilly/sixties/punk magazine and came out from 1997 to 2010. I contributed tons of interviews with all the great surf guys (among them Dick Dale, The Surfaris, Dave Wronski, Dusty Watson, Mike Vernon and Jim Thomas to name a few), and worked as a chief editor. My duties involved finalizing all the articles, putting together the sampler that goes along with the mag and writing all kind of stuff, from CD reviews to the introduction to band portraits. I loved it, but not too many people wanted to buy the mag, so it disbanded in 2010.

An English surf fanzine made by Alan Taylor and Dave Burke. Their main focus is on CD reviews, but they published some of my interviews with Dick Dale, Dave Wronski and Jon Blair…in English!

Germany’s leading blues magazine. I did interviews with guys like Michael Katon, Scott Henderson and Innes Sibun and a lot of Blues-CD reviews.
